Our multi-day trips treat you to an exceptional adventure vacation experience combining rafting on the Pacuare with a stay at our remote “Eco-Lodge”, tucked in the rainforest on the banks of the river. Our Rios Tropicales Lodge, complete with electricity and hot showers thanks to our hydro-powered generator system, is a model of eco-tourism and sustainable business practices. Our Lodge invites you to relax, explore, and enjoy Costa Rica’s natural paradise. It’s all quality time - your way - at its very best. The longer you stay, the more refreshed you return to your daily routine - we guarantee it! On our 2 Day trip, right from our Lodge you can participate in zip lines through the canopy, rainforest hikes with naturalist guides, or self-guided walks to quiet waterfalls and pools, relaxing in a hammock overlooking the beautiful Pacuare River, and bird watching. The best whitewater of the trip awaits you below the Rios Tropicales Lodge. From our “Eco-Lodge” setting, we offer tropical cocktails every afternoon at 5, open air dining with wine and exceptional meals, more stars than you can imagine, and the vibrant sounds of the jungle.

Day 1 - Class III Rafting to the Rios Tropicales Lodge. A two day trip down the Pacuare River with an over night at our Eco lodge promises to be one of those experiences in Costa Rica that will change your perspective and leave you feeling refreshed and renewed. Day one will be a mix of thrilling rapids, majestic waterfalls and serene plunge pools. After transporting you from your San Jose hotel to our headquarters for a yummy typical Costa Rican breakfast, you will journey down to the put in for a safety talk and gear orientation. Half way through the rafting portion of the day, your professional guides will prepare you a lunch on the banks of the river before continuing on to the Rios Tropicales Lodge. You can take the afternoon to relax in a hammock, hike through some of the 1500 acre private reserve, or for more adrenaline, you could choose to go ziplining. The lodge is proud to use a self-sufficient mini-hydro-plant for all electricity and has hot showers and modern bathrooms with beautiful bungalows. In the evening, your capable guides will prepare a deliciously fresh dinner accompanied with wine and other optional drinks. You can enjoy some time under the moon along the banks of the river before getting rest for what tomorrow will bring!

Before you know it, you'll arrive at our unique Rios Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall and pools. Nestled in the jungle on our 1,500-acre private reserve, the Lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Private single and double rooms are spacious and completely provided with fresh linens and comfortable pillows and beds. Don’t worry about bathrooms - our Lodge enjoys modern, clean bathrooms and hot water showers, thanks to our self-sufficient mini-hydro-plant that generates all our electricity. We built our Lodge as a sustainable “Eco-Lodge”, including the building materials, waste management system, recycling practices, and the clean, renewable energy that powers the entire facility. You’ll get the chance to settle into your rooms, then come on down to our open air dining area, where our guides prepare fresh appetizers and our guest-acclaimed “famous jungle punch”. As the sun dips behind the hills and the twilight fades, you will be treated to a delicious freshly prepared dinner with candlelight and wine. Ahh, this is adventure vacationing at its best!

Day 2 - Whitewater Action! Class IV Rafting on Lower Pacuare Day 2 is a day filled with big class IV rapids along with some short hikes to waterfalls and natural water slides. After waking up to the world's best coffee and a great riverside breakfast we will put on our river clothes and gear and head out for a big day. Some of our favorite rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimmaron, and Dos Montanas will surely provide plenty of excitement before we transport you back up to our operations center for a much deserved hearty warm lunch. We have hot showers and a souvenir shop that you can check out before our trip through the beautiful Braulio Carrillo National park on our way back to San Jose.
